Then we descend into the riverbed of the Pavone torrent, to discover the ruins of the old copper mines. This first ford of the day will allow us to enter the territory of Castelnuovo val di Cecina and go up to the town of Montecastelli Pisano. Here we can admire the parish church of San Jacopo and Filippo (XII century) and the mighty fortress-tower of the Pannocchieschi family (XIII century building) which dominates the town\u2019s profile. In addition, a small museum tells us about rural life with a collection of agricultural and domestic tools from the late 1800s and 1900s. Now we leave the town, and, still going downhill, we go to cross the Pavone stream for the second time in a truly wild environment.
