Asciano, the Medici aqueduct and the village of Mirteto

The route takes us to know the features of the Medici aqueduct, which from the seventeenth century. supplies the city of Pisa. And then, with a dip in even earlier centuries, it takes us to the year 1000 when daring hermits took refuge in what is still one of the most magical places on Monte Pisano: the village of Mirteto.

The surrounding nature will delight us with its Mediterranean scrub, from which examples of cork oaks stand out, and unusual views of the Arno plain, the city of Pisa and the Tyrrhenian coast from which the silhouettes of the islands of Gorgona and Capraia emerge.
