D3: from Barga to Fosdinovo

A day beginning with a stroll for breakfast in Barga alleys, before leving Casa Cordati. If you’re active and up to , you can enjoy a morning hike following “Barga loop” on this APP.

Next recommended stop: CAstelvecchio Pascoli. 5kms away from Barga: here the house of the poet Pascoli is nowadays a national heritage and worth see, nevertheless to experience an early XXcentury noble house ( guided visits by the housekeeper, every 20mins, beginning 10.30 am)

After this stop, follow on to Castelnuovo Garfagnana: this is your chance for a town stroll, admiring the fortress of Ariosto. Lunch time: a must trying “Vecchio Mulino” at Andrea’s tavern: a serie of tasting of local food to know into deeper local productions.

After lunch (if you opt for a night in Castelnuovo you can enjoy a hike following “Poet Ariosto loop” of this App ) it is time to leave Castelnuovo proceeding North West towards Verrucole ( one of the best preserved fortress in all Garfagnana) and finally entering Lunigiana in Fosdinovo, for a real medioeval experience  (if you make it for  5.30 pm, you can enjoy a guided tour of the castle where you’ll be hosted in the night)

After a visit at the castle, relax and enjoy a stroll in Fsodinovo with aperitif, before setting for dinner at Trattoria Quinta Terra (by the castle)
