e-MTB in Maremma

Looping around to discover Maremma pearls such as Argentario, Laguna di Orbetello, Pitigliano and Sovana, as well as the Terme di Saturnia

On the “sea” side, one day is dedicated to getting to know the Orbetello Lagoon and the Argentario promontory. A second day is instead dedicated to pedaling in the Maremma Regional Park with a visit to Talamone and entry to the Uccellina Reserve.

On the internal hilly side we will find a path that connects the Etruscan sites of Pitigliano and Sovana, as well as the Terme di Saturnia. Finally, another hilly route will take us to know Magliano and Scansano, where the famous Morellino di Scansano DOCG wine originates, an authentic expression of this land.

The following program is proposed according to a logic of physical commitment; however, the alternation of days can be customized according to weather requirements, preferably, or logistical requirements related to the arrival / departure from the farm:

PROGRAMMA GIORNO PER GIORNO

  1. Day 1- Talamone and Uccellina by e-MTB (Km 77; Disl: +/- 400m) Very nice ring that leads inside the Uccellina Park, entering the Alberese Visitor Center. Before this stretch we will travel along quiet roads and paths that draw the reclamation of Talamone and allow the visit of the pretty village perched on the gulf. ATTENTION! The entrance to the path described in the Maremma Regional Park, Uccellina Reserve (Path authorized by the Park: San Rabano – Collelungo Beach – Pineta Granducale – Marina di Alberese) is subject to a fee (10 € / person). You can also buy admission online from the official website of the Maremma Park (recommended): https://parco-maremma.it/visita-il-parco/in-bicicli/percorso-combinato-san-rabano-collelungo-pineta-granducale-marina-di-alberese/ If you wish to dedicate more time to the Uccellina Park, it is also possible to divide this itinerary into 2 rings to be covered on different days.

    MTB Caprona

  2. Day 2- Magliano and Scansano in the Terre del Morellino (Km 59; Disl: +/- 760m) Full day to dedicate to cycling starting from the farm. Up and down through gentle hills, between the Albegna and Ombrone rivers. Landscape characterized by extensive vineyards (where Morellino di Scansano DOCG originates) and ancient olive groves. The villages of Magliano and Scansano are also good points of rest and refueling, as well as a visit while walking through the villages.

  3. Day 3- Argentario and Orbetello Lagoon (Km 59; Difference: +/- 900m) A day to be composed according to one’s own needs and wishes: the circumnavigation of Monte Argentario leaves in the eyes unique views, as well as the opportunity to go down to some coves for a dip (see the marked Tracks). In addition, you can walk the ring of the Orbetello Lagoon, cool and restful, which allows the observation of birdlife and a swim from the sandy coast. Even this integral path can be divided into two rings to be covered on different days (in particular the ring of the Lagoon is an excellent half-day activity, which you can find described separately in “Loop  of the Orbetello Lagoon”)

    MTB Argentario Selguided

  4. Day 4- Maremma hills and Etruscan villages (Km 69; Disl: +/- 1150m) Pitigliano, Sorano and Manciano are the main stages of this great ring that develops between tuff hills, Etruscan quarry roads, medieval villages and land cultivated with vines and olive trees that appear among the Mediterranean scrub. Added value are the Terme di Saturnia, from which the route departs and where it ends, for a hot bath Note: Route 4 (marked in dark purple) is suitable for trained people, due to its height difference and overall length. For a more peaceful day, you can opt for the short ring of Saturnia and Montemerano (drawn in green; approx. 28Km for a difference in height of 450m)
