Colonnata trekking loop

Trekking loop from the village of Colonnata in a mountain basin among the most exploited in history for marble extraction. It is an adventure towards the woods above to get in touch with the life and traditions of these valleys. We will discover traces of the quarryman, the signs of sheep farming and those of the cultivation of chestnut woods. From the Vergheto mountain pastures and the Foce Luccica we will enjoy one of the most evocative views of the sea side of the Apuan Alps. From the crest of the Cima d’Uomo we will have a bird’s eye view of the mining work, historically present but controversial in the modern period. And we will not fail to visit the traditional family cellar on our return to the village, where the lard is still produced and stored in the hand-carved marble basins according to the dictates of past life.
